About
Hannah Fiddy is a creative entrepreneur and consultant, developing audiences for classical music and pioneering positive change in the industry. She is the Founder and Director of Alternative Classical – the only site about classical music with a majority following of under 35s – and is the creator of Concert Roulette and Humans of Classical Music. She manages the marketing and PR for John Rutter, one of the world’s most famous choral composers, and is a communications consultant for London Youth Choirs.
Hannah curates the UK’s only events guide for informal classical performances, described by Manchester Collective as “the best music event listings out there, full stop”, and writes articles that widen accessibility to classical music. She interviews some of classical music’s biggest names (including Max Richter, Sir Karl Jenkins and Chi-chi Nwanoku OBE) about developing new audiences for classical music, asking them questions they aren’t normally asked. Hannah’s fortnightly newsletter goes out to an engaged community of fans that describe it as the “ONLY newsletter I actually read”.
Described as a “classical innovator” (Culture Whisper) and a “classical music creative brain” (AA Opera), Hannah is a guest lecturer on innovation in the classical music industry at Middlesex University and has delivered workshops at the Royal College of Music on marketing, branding and content creation.
During her years working in music, Hannah has produced and promoted numerous performances outside of traditional spaces, including pubs, clubs, warehouses, museums, hospitals, prisons and even in Primark. She has been interviewer-in-residence at the London Symphony Orchestra, digital manager at The King’s Singers, and has worked with scores of music organisations including the London Symphony Orchestra, The King’s Singers, London Sinfonietta and Kings Place.
In a past life, Hannah founded London Flashmob. Her events – ranging from cultural pranks to wedding proposals – have been featured on BBC News, ITV, the Metro, CBBC, Newsround, Londonist, Time Out London, London on the Inside, Secret London, London Live and Classic FM, and described as “the funnest thing I’ve done in London!”, “absolutely bloody AMAZING!” and “brilliant from beginning to end”.
Hannah is a music graduate of Christ’s College, Cambridge, and a graduate of the Arts Marketing Association’s Digital Marketing Academy, following a state comprehensive education in Peterborough. She is now based in Bristol, UK.
